A Two-Stage Framework for Polygon Retrieval Using Minimum Circular Error Bound

چکیده
Shape matching is an important issue in pattern recognition and it has many real world applications. We have proposed a two-stage framework for polygon retrieval 12, 11] which incorporates both qualitative and quantitative measures of polygons in the rst and second stage respectively. In this paper, we introduce an extension to our two-stage framework. We propose a new polygon matching technique using Circle Error Bound and describe how this technique works under translation and scaling of polygons. Base on this technique, we propose a new translation invariant similarity measure for polygons named Minimum Circular Error Bound, which can be used in the second stage of the two-stage framework. From observation, the Minimum Circular Error Bound method produces similarity ranking of polygons resembling human perception. We compare the Minimum Circular Error Bound method with the Hausdorr Distance method and demonstrate the advantages of our method.

Calculations of Dihedral Groups Using Circular Indexation
In this work, a regular polygon with $n$ sides is described by a periodic (circular) sequence with period $n$. Each element of the sequence represents a vertex of the polygon. Each symmetry of the polygon is the rotation of the polygon around the center-point and/or flipping around a symmetry axis. Here each symmetry is considered as a system that takes an input circular sequence and g...

In this article, a fabulous method for database retrieval is proposed. The multi-resolution modified wavelet transform for each of image is computed and the standard deviation and average are utilized as the textural features. Then, the proposed modified bit-based color histogram and edge detectors were utilized to define the high level features. A feedback-based dynamic weighting of shap...

The paper presents a parallel algorithm for polygon approximation targeted at reconfigurable multi-ring hardware. The proposed algorithm grows the edges of polygon approximation that is based on principle of merging. The edge/s are grown simultaneously at point/s where the minimum merging error is produced. The merging process is made faster by carrying it out in two stages: i) During first sta...
متن کاملA Fast Algorithm for Covering Rectangular Orthogonal Polygons with a Minimum Number of r-Stars
Introduction This paper presents an algorithm for covering orthogonal polygons with minimal number of guards. This idea examines the minimum number of guards for orthogonal simple polygons (without holes) for all scenarios and can also find a rectangular area for each guards. We consider the problem of covering orthogonal polygons with a minimum number of r-stars. In each orthogonal polygon P,...
متن کاملSingle-Point Visibility Constraint Minimum Link Paths in Simple Polygons
We address the following problem: Given a simple polygon $P$ with $n$ vertices and two points $s$ and $t$ inside it, find a minimum link path between them such that a given target point $q$ is visible from at least one point on the path. The method is based on partitioning a portion of $P$ into a number of faces of equal link distance from a source point. This partitioning is essentially a shor...
